Number 73: Abyss Splash

Number 73: Abyss Splash debuted in the 2014 set Dragons of Legend, a specialized booster expansion designed to introduce cards previously seen only in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL animated series. As an Xyz Monster, the card reflects the aesthetic shift toward intricate, multi-layered artwork that defined the ZEXAL era. The set was highly anticipated by the competitive community for bringing fan-favorite anime cards into the actual trading card game, aiming to bridge the gap between television canon and practical playability.

The card was illustrated with the dramatic, high-energy style characteristic of the Number archetype, which are framed in the lore as powerful entities with immense supernatural weight. It was received as a solid utility card, prized for its ability to temporarily double its own attack power, making it a defensive and offensive tool favored by players looking to mitigate damage while preparing for a counter-attack. The super-rare foil treatment provides a distinct sheen that has made it a stable presence in collections focused on the Number monster series.
