Where it came from
Number C88: Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game within the Premium Gold set released in 2014. As a Rank 9 Xyz Monster, it serves as the 'Chaos' evolution of the original Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo, designed to provide a more formidable offensive and utility presence for the Gimmick Puppet archetype, which is visually inspired by dark, mechanical marionette motifs.
The card’s design reflects the series' tradition of high-stakes, dramatic boss monsters, emphasizing a complex aesthetic that mirrors the twisted carnival theme of its user in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime, Quattro. Upon its release, it was valued by collectors for its Secret Rare foiling process in the Premium Gold set, which gave the artwork a distinct textured sheen that differentiated it from standard printings of the era.
