Oppressed People

Oppressed People was originally introduced in the Magic Ruler expansion set in 2002. It is a normal monster card that became a notable piece of Yu-Gi-Oh! history largely due to its unique, satirical artwork, which depicts a group of cartoonish figures struggling against a heavy stone weight. The design, produced by Konami for the trading card game, reflects the brand's early willingness to experiment with eccentric, non-traditional fantasy themes in its monster roster.

The card was later re-released in Dark Revelation Volume 1, a compilation set designed to make previously harder-to-find cards more accessible to players. While the card is mechanically straightforward, it holds a cult following within the community because of its ability to synergize with specific 'Ojama' support cards or unconventional lockdown strategies. It is viewed by collectors as a quintessential example of the quirky, lighthearted charm that defined the early era of the game.
