Planet Pollutant Virus

Planet Pollutant Virus was introduced in the Crimson Crisis booster set, which debuted in the Western market in early 2009. This set served as the fourth installment of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s trading card game expansion, designed to align with the release of the animated series of the same name. As a Normal Trap card, it was strategically crafted to support Alien-themed decks by allowing players to tribute an Alien monster to destroy all face-up monsters on the opponent's side of the field that possess an A-Counter, while simultaneously preventing them from summoning or setting monsters for two turns.

The card’s illustration and mechanical design draw from the science fiction tropes prevalent in the Alien archetype, which emphasizes the use of A-Counters to manipulate board state. It was illustrated to reflect the parasitic and infectious nature of the Alien lore within the game's ecosystem. Upon its release, it was regarded by the competitive community as a niche but effective removal tool, particularly valuable in tournament play for those dedicated to maximizing the utility of the Alien monster family.
