Poison Mummy

Poison Mummy was released in 2006 as part of the Starter Deck: Syrus Truesdale, a product designed to coincide with the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series. The deck was specifically modeled after the deck used by the character Syrus Truesdale, a student at Duel Academy known for his reliance on Machine-type monsters. As a common card within this beginner-level set, Poison Mummy served as a filler card intended to help new players understand the mechanics of monster effects during the mid-2000s era of the trading card game.

The card features an illustration of a bandaged, undead creature, characteristic of the darker aesthetic themes often found in early Yu-Gi-Oh! monster designs. While the card itself is mechanically unremarkable, it stands as a piece of the franchise's expansion into the GX era, reflecting the production strategy of Konami at the time: creating accessible, character-themed starter decks to introduce young players to the growing card pool. It remains a nostalgic inclusion for fans of the early GX anime storyline.
