Raigeki

Raigeki debuted in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, initially released as a powerful Ultra Rare in the Metal Raiders expansion set in 2002. Designed as a board-clearing spell card, it allowed a player to destroy all monsters on their opponent's side of the field, making it one of the most feared and iconic cards in the game's competitive history. Its simplicity and overwhelming impact meant it was quickly restricted and eventually banned from tournament play for over a decade, cementing its status as a hallmark of the game's high-power era.

The Retro Pack release, specifically the RP01-EN005 printing, was introduced years later as part of a nostalgic initiative to make classic cards available to a new generation of players while honoring the aesthetic of the original 2002 printings. This version features the classic card frame and the distinctive Ultra Rare gold-foil lettering that defined the original aesthetic. Collectors prize this version for its ability to replicate the tactile and visual experience of opening early packs, maintaining the visual language established by Kazuki Takahashi’s original vision for the game.
