Ready for Intercepting

Ready for Intercepting was originally released in the 2002 expansion Legacy of Darkness. As a Normal Trap card, it was designed to provide players with a reactive counter to strategies involving Flip Effect monsters, which were prominent in the game's early competitive environment. By forcing a face-up monster back into face-down Defense Position, it allowed players to disrupt complex card interactions and maintain field control during a period when game mechanics heavily favored defensive setups.

The Speed Duel Tournament Pack 2 version, identified as STP2-EN017, features a Super Rare finish that distinguishes it from its common and rare iterations. This printing was issued as part of the Speed Duel initiative, a streamlined format introduced by Konami to make the game more accessible to new players. The card’s design, characterized by its straightforward utility, remains a classic example of early trap design that prioritized tactical disruption over the multi-card chain combinations common in modern iterations of the game.
