Provenance

Where it came from

Recon, Scout Fur Hire was introduced in the 2018 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game booster set Dark Saviors. The set was designed to introduce the Fur Hire archetype, a band of diverse, anthropomorphic creatures who share a unified synergy based on special summoning one another to the field. This specific card serves as the foundational searcher for the deck, providing players with the essential ability to navigate their library for additional monster resources upon its successful summon.

The visual design of Recon reflects the whimsical, high-fantasy aesthetic typical of the Fur Hire line, which draws inspiration from classic adventure-fantasy character tropes. Like its peers in the set, the card was illustrated to emphasize a cohesive, mercenary-inspired group dynamic. Upon release, the archetype was well-received by competitive players for its efficient, combo-heavy gameplay, solidifying Recon as a staple engine piece for anyone building a Fur Hire deck.
