Where it came from
Red Wyvern was introduced in the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion High-Speed Riders, a set primarily designed to support the 'Speedroid' and 'Red Dragon Archfiend' archetypes. Within the game's lore and mechanics, it serves as a Level 6 Synchro Monster, functioning as a tactical removal tool capable of destroying a monster with higher attack power during the player's turn.
The card was illustrated with a distinct aesthetic typical of the darker, high-fantasy dragon motifs found in the Red Dragon series. Upon its release, it was noted by players for its versatility as a generic Synchro monster, allowing it to see play in diverse deck lists beyond its intended archetype, further bolstered by its highly sought-after Secret Rare holographic treatment which utilized the set's signature diagonal foil pattern.
