Where it came from
Royal Decree was first introduced in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed as a powerful tactical tool to counter the reliance on trap cards. Its mechanic, which negates the effects of all other trap cards on the field, was created to force players into more aggressive, monster-focused strategies, making it a cornerstone of competitive play throughout the game's history.
The Quarter Century Stampede set, which includes this specific Secret Rare iteration, was released to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the card game. The design retains the classic, stark imagery of the original royal seal, elevated by the distinct, high-quality foil treatment associated with the secret-rare rarity tier that highlights the prestige of the anniversary collection.
