Ryu Kokki

Ryu Kokki first debuted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a core card for Zombie-type deck strategies. It was originally introduced in the Invasion of Chaos expansion, reflecting the game's shift toward high-level effect monsters that could disrupt standard gameplay. The design draws on traditional Japanese folklore, specifically the concept of the 'kokki' or demon, depicted here with a distinct, hulking aesthetic that emphasizes its role as a powerful physical threat on the field.

The Gold Series: Haunted Mine set, which included this version of the card, was designed as a thematic compilation that celebrated classic undead and spirit-based monsters. By the time this printing was released, the card had solidified its place as a staple for players utilizing graveyard-recursion mechanics. The common rarity in this set allowed it to remain accessible to players seeking to optimize their side decks or complete their collections without the aesthetic alterations applied to the higher-rarity gold-lettered versions in the same release.
