Where it came from
The Sanctity of Dragon was issued as a top-tier prize card for the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2017 tournament. These cards were exclusively awarded to the winners of the event, serving as highly coveted trophies that commemorate the pinnacle of competitive play in the trading card game scene. Given their limited distribution and prestige, they are considered some of the most exclusive pieces in the modern TCG landscape.
As a Link Monster, the card reflects the transition in the game's mechanics during the 2017 era, which saw the introduction of the Link Summoning system. The aesthetic and design language follow the high-detail, metallic-foil Secret Rare tradition of tournament-exclusive cards, designed by Konami to symbolize the power and strategic complexity required by the world's elite players. The card was received by the community as an elusive artifact, representing both a mechanical novelty and a significant status symbol among collectors.
