Provenance

Where it came from

Secrets of Dark Magic was released in 2005 as part of the Ultimate Tournament Pack 2, a promotional set designed to reward participants in Konami's official Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game tournaments. These packs were never sold in retail outlets, distributed instead as prizes to players at sanctioned events, which made them a hallmark of the mid-2000s competitive organized play scene.

The card features an illustration consistent with the dark, gothic aesthetic prevalent in early Yu-Gi-Oh! card design, emphasizing the series' occult motifs. As a super-rare variant in this specific prize pack, it became a sought-after aesthetic upgrade for players looking to distinguish their decks with the foil-stamped finish characteristic of the set's higher-rarity inclusions.
