Serpent Night Dragon

Serpent Night Dragon was introduced as part of the Spell Ruler expansion, which was released in North America in 2002. As one of the early high-level normal monsters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, it serves as a representative of the aesthetic transition during the game's nascent years, where powerful monster cards were often defined by their high attack values rather than complex effects.

The card’s illustration is attributed to the creative team at Konami, designed to capture a dark, mythical reptilian presence consistent with the fantasy motifs of the era. Within the Spell Ruler set, the secret rare variant was particularly coveted by collectors for its distinct holographic foil pattern, marking it as a centerpiece item for players navigating the game’s first major expansions.
