Shadow Ghoul

Shadow Ghoul first appeared in the early Metal Raiders expansion of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed by Konami as part of the initial wave of cards that defined the game's gothic aesthetic. It was later reprinted as a common card in the Dark Beginning 2 compilation set, which was released to provide newer players with easier access to classic cards that had previously been difficult to acquire during the game's explosive growth in the early 2000s.

The card's design features the signature dark, macabre artwork typical of the series' early years, created by the original creative team at Konami. As a monster whose attack power scales based on the number of monsters in the graveyard, it was intended to reward strategic resource management, though it eventually saw limited competitive use due to the rapid power creep of later sets.
