Shamisen Samsara Sorrowcat

Shamisen Samsara Sorrowcat was introduced as part of the 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Heroes Mega Pack, released by Konami in 2023. This product was designed to celebrate a quarter-century of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game by reprinting highly sought-after cards from various sets released throughout the years, alongside new thematic additions. The card serves as a Synchro Monster, fitting into the intricate mechanical framework that has defined the game since the introduction of the Synchro summoning mechanic in the late 2000s.

The aesthetic and naming convention of the card draw upon traditional Japanese musical motifs, specifically the shamisen, a three-stringed instrument, blended with melancholic, mystical imagery. Like many cards within the Mega Pack, the design process focused on maintaining the established artistic standards of the franchise, aiming to offer both utility in competitive play and visual appeal for collectors. The Ultra Rare foil treatment was utilized to highlight the card's intricate line work, providing it with a distinct presence that reflects the premium nature of the anniversary collection.
