Skelengel

Skelengel was released as part of the 2009 Starter Deck: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, a product designed to introduce new players to the mechanics of the then-current 5D's era of the card game. The set was intended to provide a functional foundation for beginners while featuring classic monsters adapted to the evolving landscape of the game. Its design is rooted in the early history of the franchise, originally appearing in the first core sets, where it served as a utility monster that balanced offense with card draw capabilities.

The card features an illustration by the original Konami art team, consistent with the stylized, gothic-fantasy aesthetic prevalent in the game's initial years. The character, a skeletal angel, reflects the juxtaposition of light and dark motifs often found in the early monster designs. As a common rarity card, it was distributed broadly, making it a reliable staple for players looking to improve their hand advantage, rather than a high-value collector's piece.
