Skill Drain

Skill Drain was first introduced in the 2003 expansion set Magician's Force. Designed as a continuous trap card, it was intended to fundamentally shift the game's competitive landscape by negating the effects of all face-up monsters on the field at the cost of one thousand life points. This mechanic created a distinct playstyle that favored high-attack monsters with detrimental effects or simple beatdown strategies, forcing players to adapt their decks to either exploit or circumvent the board-wide suppression.

The version from Hidden Arsenal: Chapter 1, released in 2022, serves as a common-rarity reprinting of this enduring staple. By including it in a set focused on reintroducing cards from the Hidden Arsenal series alongside older support, Konami aimed to make the card accessible to a new generation of players. While the aesthetic remains faithful to the original OCG-inspired artwork, its inclusion in modern sets highlights the card's lasting relevance in the game's evolving competitive history.
