Provenance

Where it came from

Skull Dice was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a common card in the Metal Raiders expansion set, released in North America in 2002. The card was designed to reflect the chaotic, gambling-themed playstyle of the character Joey Wheeler, who frequently utilized dice-based effects in the anime series to swing the momentum of a duel. Its effect, which requires a die roll to determine an attack reduction for the opponent's monster, captures the high-risk, high-reward nature of the character's deck strategy.

The version from Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World, assigned the number LCJW-EN074, serves as a reissue within a compilation set specifically curated to celebrate iconic cards used by Joey Wheeler throughout the series. The illustration depicts a stylized, malevolent skull die, adhering to the dark fantasy aesthetic common to early Konami card designs. As a common card in this collection, it remains a staple for collectors focusing on nostalgic or character-specific deck themes.
