Where it came from
Starry Knight Ceremony was released in the Ghosts From the Past set in 2021 as part of a thematic archetype centered around the Starry Knight monsters. This card functions as a Continuous Spell, supporting the playstyle by allowing players to return a Light dragon to their hand to special summon a Starry Knight monster from the hand. The design aesthetic draws heavily from celestial and knightly fantasy motifs, consistent with the broader visual language of the archetype, which emphasizes a mystical, nocturnal tone.
The card was designed to provide essential resource management and consistency for the Starry Knight deck, which debuted during this expansion to bring a unique light-attribute focus to the game. While the set itself was highly anticipated by collectors for its inclusion of competitive staples and rare reprints, individual cards like Starry Knight Ceremony were received as niche technical supports. The artwork reflects the collaborative effort of Konami's design team to establish a cohesive look for the deck, prioritizing a balance between thematic storytelling and functional mechanical utility.
