Provenance

Where it came from

The Sword of Dragon's Soul was released in 2004 as one of three promotional cards included with the PC game Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion. This title served as the second entry in the Power of Chaos series, designed to bridge the gap between digital gaming and the physical collectible card game by offering players exclusive, highly sought-after secret rare prints that were not available in standard booster packs at the time.

The card features artwork depicting a draconic blade, consistent with the aesthetic of Joey Wheeler's dragon-themed deck from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series. As a equip spell card, its design reflects the game's focus on boosting monster statistics, specifically tailored for the Dragon-type creatures central to the gameplay strategies favored by the character Joey. Upon its release, it became a point of interest for collectors due to its status as a promotional exclusive and its distinct, shimmering secret rare foiling.
