Provenance

Where it came from

T.G. Close was released in the Age of Overlord booster set, which debuted in the TCG in late 2023. This card serves as support for the Tech Genus archetype, a fan-favorite group of monsters rooted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's era, characterized by their high-speed, machine-centric aesthetic and ability to utilize Synchro Summoning in rapid succession.

The card was designed to function as a thematic trap card, reinforcing the Tech Genus playstyle of controlling the field through constant Synchro activity. Its visual design leans into the industrial, futuristic motifs established by the original Tech Genus cards, emphasizing mechanical complexity and the frantic energy of the speed-racing theme central to the archetype's narrative lore.
