The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin

The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin was released in the 2018 Legendary Hero Decks, a product line designed to provide players with pre-constructed decks themed around the protagonists and antagonists of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V anime series. This specific card serves as a key piece of support for the Phantom Knights archetype, a dark-attribute, warrior-based strategy that utilizes the graveyard to summon monsters and facilitate Xyz plays. It reflects the grim, gothic aesthetic of the archetype, emphasizing tactical graveyard manipulation over raw power.

The design of the card captures the thematic essence of the Phantom Knights through its illustration of a skeletal, spectral warrior clad in rusted, ornate armor. As a Rank 2 Xyz monster, its design intent was to provide players with a reliable utility piece that could negate an opponent's monster effects while simultaneously lowering their attack points to zero. The card was received by the competitive community as a functional niche tool, valued for its ability to clear problematic threats during an opponent's turn, and it remains a staple inclusion for decks dedicated to the archetype.
