Troop Dragon

Troop Dragon was introduced as part of the Dark Beginning 2 set, which served as a curated compilation designed to reissue highly sought-after cards from the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Released in the mid-2000s, this set was intended to provide players with accessible versions of cards that had originally appeared in expansion packs like Magician's Force and Legacy of Darkness, helping to stabilize the game's competitive landscape by making key utility monsters more widely available.

The card features an effect-monster design focused on field presence and resource management. Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!, oversaw the artistic direction of the franchise, ensuring that monster designs balanced fantastical aesthetics with the functional requirements of the game's rules. Troop Dragon was received as a reliable tactical tool, specifically favored for its ability to summon copies of itself from the deck when destroyed, a mechanism that rewarded players for maintaining a chain of defensive plays.
