Ultra Polymerization

Ultra Polymerization was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2017 booster set Maximum Crisis. Designed as a fusion support card, it serves as an alternative to the classic Polymerization spell, specifically catering to decks that focus on Fusion Summoning by allowing players to pay 2,000 life points to perform the summon while also granting the ability to recover the materials used if the fusion monster leaves the field.

The card's design aesthetic and mechanical function were influenced by the GX era of the franchise, aiming to modernize fusion strategies for the faster-paced competitive environment of the mid-2010s. The Secret Rare version, identified by its distinct foil texture and MACR-EN052 set numbering, was released during a period where Konami was actively expanding the utility of fusion-based archetypes, and it was received by players as a niche but effective tool for maintaining resource advantage in high-risk deck builds.
