Vampire Dragon

Vampire Dragon was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Shadow of the Infinity booster set, later appearing as a common card in Astral Pack Three (AP03-EN020). Released as part of the specialized Astral Pack series, these cards were distributed primarily as tournament prize support at official Konami-sanctioned events. The design of the card reflects the dark, gothic aesthetic prevalent in early-to-mid 2000s card game illustration, featuring a creature that blends draconic anatomy with vampiric traits.

The card was designed by the creative team at Konami to support specific monster-searching mechanics within the game's evolving meta. As an effect monster, its utility lies in its ability to retrieve fallen monsters from the graveyard, a staple strategy for decks focusing on resource recycling. The Astral Pack reprint version was specifically intended to make legacy cards more accessible to competitive players who frequent organized play environments, ensuring the card remained available for deck-building versatility.
