Vendread Reorigin

Vendread Reorigin was introduced in the 2017 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game set Code of the Duelist as part of the Vendread archetype. This archetype drew significant aesthetic inspiration from classic zombie horror and slasher films, characterized by a dark, visceral visual style that contrasted with the more traditional fantasy tropes common in the game at the time. The card itself functions as a thematic representation of the archetype's core mechanic, which involves rituals and the transformation of monsters into spectral, undead entities.

The design of the card is attributed to the creative team at Konami, who utilized a sinister, high-contrast art style to underscore the macabre nature of the Vendread monsters. Upon its release, the card received moderate interest from collectors and competitive players alike, primarily due to its striking Secret Rare foil treatment. As a trap card within a niche archetype, it is viewed today as a notable piece of the mid-2010s era of the game, representing a period when the developers leaned heavily into cohesive, lore-driven card sets.
