Wicked Acolyte Chilam Sabak

Wicked Acolyte Chilam Sabak was released in the 2017 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game set Code of the Duelist. This set served as the introduction to the Link Summoning mechanic, fundamentally shifting the game's pace and field management requirements. As a common rarity card, Chilam Sabak was designed as an accessible utility piece within the set's broader structure, intended for players looking to explore synergies between the newly introduced mechanics and existing graveyard-dependent archetypes.

The card's design draws inspiration from Mesoamerican mythology, specifically referencing the Mayan underworld. In its strategic context, it functions as a monster capable of Special Summoning itself from the hand by sending a card from the top of the deck to the graveyard, a design choice meant to encourage resource cycling. While it did not emerge as a centerpiece of competitive tournament play, it remains a notable example of the thematic depth and varied monster design choices present throughout the Code of the Duelist expansion.
