Xyz Block

Xyz Block was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2014 Mega-Tin Mega Pack, a compilation set designed to reprint popular cards from previous expansion sets like Shadow Specters and Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy. This specific release allowed players to acquire cards from the Xyz-heavy era of the game at a more accessible rarity, serving as a reprint for the card's initial debut in the Shadow Specters booster set released the previous year.

The card design centers on the mechanic of Xyz Summoning, which was the defining feature of the Zexal generation of the franchise. Mechanically, Xyz Block acts as a counter trap card that allows a player to negate an opponent's monster effect or spell card by detaching an Xyz material, provided they control a Rank 4 or higher Xyz Monster.
