A Jewish Girl in Shanghai Part 2: The Mystery of the Necklace

A Jewish Girl in Shanghai Part 2: The Mystery of the Necklace was produced as a sequel to the 2010 animated feature film A Jewish Girl in Shanghai. The project was developed to continue the historical narrative centered on the friendship between a local girl and a Jewish refugee during the Japanese occupation of Shanghai in World War II. The film aimed to educate younger audiences on a specific, often overlooked chapter of history through an accessible animated format, emphasizing themes of cross-cultural solidarity.

The production sought to maintain the visual continuity established by the original film, which was noted for its attempt to blend traditional Chinese animation styles with a poignant, historical subject matter. The narrative design focuses on the discovery of a hidden heirloom, serving as a catalyst to explore the lives of refugees within the Shanghai Ghetto. While the film was primarily intended for domestic educational purposes in China, it received attention for its sincere, albeit earnest, approach to historical drama.
