ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka Specials

ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka Specials, released in 2017, serves as an extension of the acclaimed anime adaptation of Natsume Ono's manga series. Produced by Studio Madhouse, these episodes were designed to provide further insight into the political intrigue and daily lives of the characters within the fictional Kingdom of Dowa after the conclusion of the main series. The animation retains the distinctive, minimalist aesthetic and warm color palette established by the original series, emphasizing atmospheric storytelling over high-octane action.

The production maintains the involvement of key staff such as director Shingo Natsume, who sought to capture the series' signature blend of laid-back bureaucracy and suspenseful world-building. Upon release, the specials were well-received by fans of the franchise for preserving the sophisticated jazz-infused tone and character-driven focus that defined the television run. They remain a sought-after piece of the ACCA canon, reflecting the studio's commitment to maintaining visual consistency and narrative depth in peripheral content.
