AJIN: Demi-Human -Compel-

AJIN: Demi-Human -Compel- is a compilation film derived from the television anime series produced by Polygon Pictures, which began its broadcast run in 2016. The project adapts Gamon Sakurai’s dark fantasy manga, focusing on the discovery of immortal beings known as Ajin and the intense government and societal persecution they face. The studio utilized their signature 3D cel-shaded animation style to translate the manga's visceral action sequences and eerie atmospheric tension into a cinematic format.

The technical direction was overseen by Polygon Pictures, a studio widely recognized for its pioneering use of 3D computer-generated imagery in Japanese animation. By prioritizing a distinct, non-photorealistic aesthetic, the production team aimed to maintain the gritty, high-contrast look of Sakurai’s original illustrations. While the transition from traditional 2D animation to a fully rendered 3D environment polarized some viewers upon initial release, the series and its compilation films were ultimately noted for their fluid combat choreography and technical ambition within the medium.
