Where it came from
Akane-banashi 2nd Season was produced by Aniplex in 2027, continuing the television adaptation of the popular manga series written by Yuki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamasa Moue. Following the success of the debut season, this continuation was commissioned to further explore the competitive world of Rakugo, Japan's traditional art of comic storytelling, through the perspective of the protagonist, Akane Osaki.
The series maintains the high production standards established by the inaugural season, focusing on the intricate psychological tension and technical demands of stage performance. The animation design team prioritized authentic depictions of Rakugo postures and gestures, collaborating with professional performers to ensure that the visual representation of the craft remained respectful and precise while translating the manga's dynamic panel work into a fluid televised format.
