Akuma Tou no Prince: Mitsume ga Tooru

Akuma Tou no Prince: Mitsume ga Tooru was produced by Toei Animation in 1985 as a television special based on the long-running manga series by Osamu Tezuka. It emerged during a period when Tezuka's works were being adapted into various animated formats, aiming to bring his signature blend of mythological adventure and science fiction to a younger audience. The narrative focuses on Hosuke Sharaku, a descendant of the ancient Three-Eyed Ones, as he navigates the tensions between his dual personalities.

The character design for this production maintains the expressive, rounded aesthetic characteristic of Tezuka's style, adapted for the animation standards of mid-1980s television. The special served as a standalone entry that explored the lore of the Three-Eyed race, reflecting the thematic emphasis on curiosity and the consequences of hidden knowledge. While it did not reach the same widespread cultural ubiquity as some of Tezuka's other major works, it remains a notable piece for animation historians interested in the adaptation history of his vast library.
