Angel Densetsu is a story about Seiichirou Kitano, a kind and naive boy with the heart of an angel, but the sinister looks of a devil. This causes many misunderstandings, leading people to assume that he is a villain or heroin addict, and results in a career as the head thug, or "school guardian" at his new school.

Where it came from
Angel of Legend, known in Japan as Legend of Lemnear, was released as an original video animation in 1996 based on a popular manga series by Kenichi Sonoda and Kinji Yoshimoto. The project emerged during a period when high-fantasy anime, heavily influenced by tabletop role-playing games and western sword-and-sorcery aesthetics, saw a significant rise in production volume within the Japanese home video market.
The character design and visual direction reflect the distinct, detailed style for which Sonoda was known, emphasizing flowing hair, ornate armor, and dramatic action sequences. While intended to capitalize on the success of the original manga, the animation was received as a stylistic period piece that highlighted the era's technical reliance on traditional cel animation to capture the ambitious, gritty fantasy world of its source material.
