Annyeong Jaduya

Annyeong Jaduya, known internationally as Hello Jadu, originated as a long-running manhwa series by Lee Bin that first appeared in 1997. The story centers on the energetic and mischievous elementary student Choi Jadu and her daily life with her family in South Korea during the 1980s. Its enduring popularity as a nostalgic look at a bygone era led to its adaptation into a high-quality animated television series by Tooniverse, which premiered in 2011.

The animated production by Tooniverse was designed to capture the warm, slapstick charm of the original comics while grounding the visual style in the bright, accessible aesthetic of early 2010s Korean children's television. The series became a significant cultural staple in South Korea, praised for its relatable depiction of family dynamics and the relatable, non-idealized personality of its protagonist. Its success spawned multiple seasons and films, cementing Jadu as a recognizable icon of modern Korean animation.
