Where it came from
Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon originated as a light novel series written by Tōki Yanagimi and illustrated by Kippu. Published by Fujimi Shobo beginning in 2012, the narrative fits firmly within the mid-2010s trend of fantasy-themed light novels centered on magical combat academies, exploring themes of prejudice and the reconciliation of science and sorcery.
The 2015 television anime adaptation was produced by studio SILVER LINK. under the direction of Tomoyuki Kawamura. The production aimed to distill the high-stakes tactical dynamics of the source material into a twelve-episode run, focusing on the character growth of Takeru Kusanagi and his squad. Upon release, the series was noted for its integration of military-style hardware with traditional fantasy elements, though it remains a niche entry in the competitive seasonal anime market of that year.
