Parents who don't want to take care of their child leave parenting to the mail ordered robot "Auto Mommy" and allow their child to be raised in isolation.
One day, they take a look at the monitor to check the child, and then they see the child wearing dog skin and hiding his face. This is not good, the parents think, because they can't send the child to school like this. So they make Auto Mommy peel the dog skin off the child, only to find that the child became a plant without a human face.

Where it came from
Auto Mommy was released in 2000 by the Sovat Theater studio, representing a specific period of experimental digital animation in the early millennium. The film emerged during a time when independent studios were testing the boundaries of computer-assisted visual storytelling, often blending traditional narrative themes with stark, unconventional aesthetics that challenged mainstream cinematic conventions of the era.
The production design reflects an intentional shift toward minimalism and mechanical motifs, focusing on the intersection of domesticity and automation. While the film remained an niche entry in the independent circuit, it is recognized by scholars of early 2000s experimental media for its distinctive visual language and the studio's attempt to bridge the gap between abstract art and character-driven animation.
