Where it came from
AWM Jixian Juji, also known by its English title AWM: PUBG Mobile, is a Tencent Penguin Pictures animated adaptation of the popular web novel written by Man Man He Qi Duo. Released as an ONA in the early 2020s, the series was produced to capture the massive interest in the e-sports and competitive gaming subculture in China. It fits within the broader trend of Tencent adapting successful online literature into high-budget, 3D-animated series, leveraging the company's dominance in both the gaming and digital media sectors.
The character design and visual direction were crafted to evoke the aesthetic of professional competitive gaming, focusing on the high-stakes atmosphere of the fictionalized PUBG scene. The production utilized modern motion-capture and 3D rendering techniques to emphasize fluid movement during simulated combat sequences. Upon release, the series was well-received by fans of the original source material for its faithful adaptation of the central romance and the technical intensity of its competitive gaming portrayals, ultimately securing its place as a staple within Tencent's digital animation library.
