Where it came from
B-PROJECT-Zeccho＊Emotion- serves as the second television anime season for the B-PROJECT multimedia franchise, which launched in 2015. Produced by A-1 Pictures and released in 2019, the series continues the story of the fictional male idol units Kitakore, Thrive, and MoonS as they navigate the challenges of the Japanese entertainment industry. The project was originally spearheaded by Chiyomaru Shikura, with character designs created by Utako Yukihiro, whose distinct visual style played a significant role in establishing the franchise's identity among fans of idol-themed anime.
The production was intended to capitalize on the success of the first season by further exploring the group dynamics and personal growth of its expansive cast. While the first season was noted for its polished animation and catchy musical numbers, the second season was received as a direct continuation of that established formula. Critics and viewers often focused on the show's integration of musical performances with episodic plot beats, which reflects the broader industry trend of cross-media marketing in the Japanese idol genre.
