Where it came from
Bakukyuu Renpatsu! Super B-Daman was produced by studio Xebec and premiered in 1999 as a core component of the cross-media marketing strategy for Takara’s B-Daman toy line. The series served as a dynamic advertisement for the updated toy mechanics, which focused on high-speed marble firing, and reflected the late 1990s trend of adapting competitive hobby-based products into serialized anime aimed at school-aged children.
The narrative follows the protagonist, Tamada Go, as he competes in the fast-paced world of B-Daman sports. Directed by Mitsuo Hashimoto, the show emphasized energetic character designs and intricate gameplay sequences intended to showcase the specific features of the physical toys. It was received as a definitive entry in the franchise, cementing the popularity of the Super B-Daman mechanical system among collectors and hobbyists during the turn of the millennium.
