Bananya Around the World

Bananya Around the World was released in 2024 as a continuation of the popular Bananya franchise, a series of short-form anime centered on a mysterious cat living inside a banana. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the ONA format serves as a lighthearted extension of the original premise, which first gained traction in 2016 for its whimsical, low-stakes storytelling and distinctive, pastel-toned character designs. This iteration shifts the focus toward global travel, maintaining the simplistic, accessible aesthetic that has become the hallmark of the brand's visual identity.

The character design remains faithful to the minimalist aesthetic established by the original series, emphasizing rounded forms and expressive, yet subtle, facial features. The production was intended to appeal to a broad, international demographic, leaning into the 'kawaii' subculture that has defined the studio's recent output. Reception has generally been aligned with the franchise's established fanbase, who appreciate the consistent, gentle humor and the clever integration of new cultural motifs within the familiar, fruit-bound feline trope.
