Where it came from
Blue Eyes -in HARBOR TALE- was produced by the South Korean studio I.Toon and released in 2014. As an animated feature, it reflects the studio's efforts to expand the reach of Korean digital animation within both domestic and international markets. The film was developed during a period when the industry was increasingly experimenting with narrative-driven independent features that balanced stylized visuals with accessible storytelling themes.
The film is notable for its specific aesthetic approach, which emphasizes a distinct color palette and atmospheric world-building intended to evoke a sense of melancholy and wonder. While I.Toon is recognized for its work in various digital media formats, this project was designed to showcase their capacity for feature-length narrative development. Upon its release, it was regarded as a niche entry in the animation landscape, appreciated primarily by enthusiasts of independent international works for its unconventional visual tone.
