Where it came from
BLUE: line・step・brush was released by WIT Studio in 2020 as a promotional short designed to highlight the artistic process and technical prowess of the studio's animators. Produced during a period when the studio sought to emphasize its commitment to traditional hand-drawn techniques amidst an increasingly digital industry, the work serves as a stylistic exploration of motion and form rather than a traditional narrative piece.
The animation showcases the distinct draftsmanship of WIT Studio's creative team, focusing on the fluidity of line work and the deliberate layering of movement. By stripping away dialogue and complex plot, the creators intended to offer a meditative look at the 'brush' and 'step' of animation production, allowing the viewer to appreciate the raw talent involved in the studio's character design and key framing workflows.
