Boku Kakkoii Deshou

Boku Kakkoii Deshou, which translates to 'Aren't I Cool?', is a notable musical segment originating from the long-running NHK educational program Okaasan to Issho. First introduced in the 1990s, the piece was designed as a catchy, character-driven song intended to engage young children while teaching them about self-expression and confidence. It became a staple of the show's rotation, reflecting the NHK's commitment to creating high-quality, rhythmic content that balances educational value with playful, lighthearted entertainment for a preschool demographic.

The visual identity of the segment was crafted by the creative team at NHK, who utilized bright, whimsical animation styles characteristic of their children's programming during that era. The segment's enduring popularity is attributed to its simple, repetitive melody and the endearing nature of the characters, which resonated deeply with the Japanese public. It remains a nostalgic touchstone for generations of viewers who grew up watching the program, often cited as a classic example of the era's children's television aesthetic.
