Boku to Déjà vu

Boku to Déjà vu is an experimental television production aired by NHK, the Japanese national broadcaster, during the late 1980s. Emerging from NHK’s long-standing tradition of exploring the intersection of creative animation and surrealist storytelling, the title was crafted to push the boundaries of visual media, blending traditional techniques with the avant-garde sensibilities that characterized Japan’s public broadcasting experiments in that era.

The production is widely regarded for its distinctive aesthetic, which sought to evoke a sense of uncanny familiarity and introspective displacement in the viewer. By prioritizing abstract visual narratives over conventional linear plot structures, the creators aimed to challenge the audience's perception of memory and temporal continuity, resulting in a niche but highly respected piece of NHK's historical animation archive.
