Boruto: Jump Festa 2016 Special

The Boruto: Jump Festa 2016 Special was released as a promotional animated feature during the annual Jump Festa event in December 2015. Produced to capitalize on the success of the 2015 film Boruto: Naruto the Movie, this short was designed to bridge the gap for fans and maintain momentum for the expansion of Masashi Kishimoto's long-running ninja franchise. It serves as an epilogue of sorts, focusing on the domestic life of the Uzumaki family and providing a glimpse into the changing dynamics of the Hidden Leaf Village in a post-war era.

The animation was handled by Studio Pierrot, the long-term studio behind the Naruto television series. The design aesthetic intentionally maintains the visual consistency established by the film, focusing on Ukyo Kodachi’s script work to flesh out the character of Boruto Uzumaki. Critics and fans generally received the piece as a lighthearted, character-driven companion to the main feature, valued primarily for its role in solidifying the transition from the original Naruto saga to the subsequent Boruto series.
