The concept of "Boundary" is something that manifests itself and develops, based on where each individual is standing. It affects his way of seeing as well as his way of thinking. This is a work of animation, expressed with large and small square shapes. A girl is sleeping in a space surrounded by a boundary. However, when she wakes up, she no longer feels that she is free in that space.... Partially used on the stage for the drama "Kanshosha".

Where it came from
Boundary Line, or Kyōkai-sen, is a 1983 short film directed by the influential animator Kōji Yamamura. Created during an era when independent Japanese animation was beginning to gain international recognition for its experimental approach, the film explores themes of separation and human connection through a distinctly surreal, minimalist lens.
The film utilizes a hand-drawn, shifting visual style that characterizes much of Yamamura’s early work. By focusing on the concept of borders—both literal and psychological—the piece serves as an early example of the existential storytelling that would later define the director's acclaimed career, reflecting a deliberate departure from the commercial cel-animation standards of the time.
