The project was conceived to bring the intricate mechanical battles of the source material to life through a blend of traditional 2D animation and 3D computer graphics, a hallmark of the studio's technical ambition during this period.

The film focuses on the central protagonist, Rygart Arrow, and his discovery of an ancient Golem, a narrative device that explores themes of political tension and mechanical warfare. Directed by Tetsuro Amino and Nobuyoshi Habara, the series aimed for a grounded, tactical aesthetic in its combat sequences. Upon release, the film was noted for its departure from standard mecha tropes, focusing instead on the heavy, cumbersome nature of the 'Golem' machines, which were designed to feel physically imposing and realistically weight-bound.
