Broken Blade 3

Broken Blade 3, titled 'Scars of an Assassin,' is the third installment in a six-part anime film series produced by Production I.G and XEBEC in 2010. Adapted from Yunosuke Yoshinaga's manga, the project was conceived as a theatrical series rather than a standard television broadcast, allowing for higher production values and a distinct cinematic pace. The narrative centers on Rygart Arrow, a 'un-sorcerer' in a world where magic powers technology, as he pilots an ancient Golem in a conflict between two warring nations.

The series design is notable for its blend of traditional hand-drawn animation and intricate 3D CGI used for the mechanical Golem combat. Production I.G, working alongside XEBEC, aimed to emphasize the weight and industrial nature of the mecha, moving away from the more agile, high-speed aesthetic common in other genre works of the era. Upon its release, the film was praised for its atmospheric world-building and character-driven stakes, solidifying its place as a technically ambitious entry in the mecha subgenre.
